Following the WordPress 6.8.2 maintenance release last month, the update to the root security certificate bundle has been backported to all branches down to 4.7. This ensures that your site uses the most current information about trusted security certificates when performing server-side HTTP requests. More details are available on the Core Trac ticket.
New maintenance releases for each branch from 4.7 to 6.7 are now available. If your sites on these branches support automatic background updates, the update process will start automatically.
The latest and only supported version of WordPress remains 6.8.2. This update is provided as a courtesy for sites still using older versions of WordPress. You can download WordPress 6.8.2 from WordPress.org, or go to your WordPress Dashboard, click “Updates,” and then click “Update Now.”
